I met Mike and Laura Allred a few years ago at Wizard Chicago, and as awesome as it was, it was also fucking horrible —but it was my fault.

They say sometimes it’s better to not meet your idols, and this was totally the case.

I shut down. I got super nervous. I said weird and awkward stuff. And I know at one point Mike caught me staring at them. Just staring.

For the record, they were both totally cool and they handled themselves just fine as the fan-dork gushed from across the table. Laura was very understanding and even invited me to hang out on the side to talk more.

Anyways, I’m a huge Madman fan, but more importantly I’m a fan of Mike’s retro-pop-comic art, and Laura’s best-palette-in-comics-colors. This panel from iZombie, for example. Super cool.

Had a very productive day today. Didn’t get to read as much as I wanted (current book: Lost City of Z), but I got four pages penciled (not inked) for EGYPTIAN SHUMBA.

CHRISTMAS CHIDZ “Christmas Helmet” official music video.

Once each year, me and some friends get together and we get drunk and take drugs and write a bunch of Christmas inspired songs.

We call ourselves the Christmas Chidz, and this year fellow-Chid Marky made a video for the new song “Christmas Helmet”.

There’s a plan to eventually put all our songs online for the whole world to enjoy, but for now there’s just this.

MILWAUKEE ZINE FEST

is this Saturday, Dec. 10 @ the Polish Falcon, 10am - 5pm.

Per usual, I’ll have comics and art for sale.  I won’t be bringing as much stuff as I did to Hovercraft (thanks to everyone who attended btw), but I will have my Daily Marvel sketchbook pages and show poster originals/prints.
